Local coastal walks. South tyneside heritage trail. Guided Walks. The beach is good for bird watching; in particular sanderlings which over winter at the beach. Seals and dolphins occasionally sighted.

Cleaned daily from May to September by dedicated Foreshore Cleansing squad. Litter and Dog bins present.
Seasonal dog ban on nothern half of the beach 1st May to 30th September.
